Venturing out from Washington state down to the golden state was Impulse Productions with their show titled Import Motion. The weekend of February 8th, 2003, we too ventured nearly 400 miles from Southern California to Sacramento to see just what Impulse was importing. What ensued was a positive and sucessful venture as things set in motion Saturday, February 8, 2003, at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds.

The venue section used was made up of about 6 buildings all connected by ramps and stairways nicely nesting the main stage in the center of it all and adjacent to this complex of buildings an outside area was also used. Each building was temperature controlled and built for show. From show cars to everyday drivers, the various buildings housed import upon import and provided a comfortable environment for the tons of people that showed up. The show cars were comprised from such teams as Decepticon, Nemesis, AVR, Fuzion, Nasty Habits, Insane Images, Twisted Images, and Slow Motion.

The day was anything but slow as the show put on various acts throughout the day. There was a bicycle freestyling demonstration of riders performing gravity defying stunts and flips as well as a bit of comedy relief from the holding of our breaths during the bike stunts being performed. Next to this area was the hop off for those with air suspension equipped vehicles willing to risk blowing a bag to win top honors. The M.C. here kept the crowd attentive as the high charges of pneumatic madness and bliss unleashed. Unleashing the bass was the sound off also in this outside area. In an effort to shatter SPL records the contestants allowed thier woofers to drop bass and sounds that rattled doors, trunks, and flexing dashboards. It was music to the sound off buffs' ears. Moving the ears were original musical acts and mc'ing on the main stage as well as a dance troupe showing off thier skills and talent. Perhaps the most talent and skill was demonstrated by the b-boy bout set before a packed stage area and surround stairs that served as impromptu bleachers. Some kept it clean and polite, while others brought a competivie zeal that motivated the competitors to raise the bar. 360s were observed using one's head, back, hands, and for one gifted b-boy, on one hand, and still able to get off the ground while in the process of his 360. Talent recognized! Slowly but surely the competition eliminated competitors, and as the stakes were raised, so was the tempo and scale of dance moves. From rehearsed duos aweing the crowd with their patterned dances to multibody displays of agility and strength to gravity defying flips off the ground using their feet's strength only.

The b-boy exhibition may have moved our feet, but what moved the hormones was the sexually poised, yet very clean, bikini contest. The contestants of this contest not only brought great bodies and smiles, but a talent for performance, crowd teasing, crowd pleasing, and winning over the crowd charisma. The contestants were respectful to each other, and the laws of the land, yet they managed to drive the crowd nuts. How so? Implicit gestures, leg flexing, and finger walking techniques is how. Some of the contestants brought a facial aspect that was easily read and conveyed, while others showed of their tact for leg extensions and buttock revealing splits that would make even the camera drool. Add to that a sensual display of finger tapping and finger dialing, and what we have is the mind filling in all the blanks, and raising the heartbeats, cheers, and eyebrows of those watching. It was a close call to the end as both final contestants were loved by the crowd, but one did go the extra mile breaking off the near draw to clinch the big win.

Their were many winners at this show not just with the b-boys, or bikini contestants, but also with the car show entrants, and show attendants as thier were plenty of rays of sunshine, cute ladies, plenty of fellas for the cute ladies, very clean restrooms, a well maintained venue, and tons of giveaways floating around from Live Magazine itself, Pozest.com itself, Dub, Pitbull Energy Drink, Topaz Records, Vibrant, and others.

As 2003 begins and car show season is near, we hear in the near future, possibly 2004, Import Motion may head to Southern California. With such an impressive turn out and result for Import Motion with this California show, their coming down south is welcomed and looked forward to. Don’t forget to visit WWW.IMPORTMOTION.COM
