USO represents brotherhood. Brotherhood was very
much present in USO (Harbor area)’s first annual car
show in Long Beach overlooking the Queen Mary and
downtown Long Beach. There were Latinos, Blacks,
Whites, and even a few Asians all united to view the
hot cars under the hot sun. Thanks to the onshore
breeze, it was not a scorcher.
Also hot was the action in the hopping pit. Here it
was very evident that Blacks & Latinos were in good
fun competing and enjoying the automotive sport of
hopping. When a Latino’s vehicle from San Diego shattered a
ball joint leaving the car practically handicapped in
the pit keeping the hop from continuing, Blacks &
Latinos cooperatively assisted in making adjustments
to help get the vehicle out of the pit. It was unity
at its best.
Also united were the car genres. There were luxury
style SUVs, Imports, lowriders, classics, and trucks
all showing together. This celebration of the vehicle
shows the booming market of automobile customisation.
There was plenty of parking, admission was a
reasonable $12, water was plentiful and at the best
price seen at an event, a 0.75 liter bottle was $1.
Can you believe that!? There were also plenty of booths offering their goods
and services. There was also live entertainment put
on by several artists with lots of giveaways. Plenty
of staff kept the event running smooth, and not a
single incident was reported.
For being a first show, the turnout of showcars was
impressive. The venue itself was majestic as well;
right by the Queen Mary and along the Long Beach
Channel. Much props to USO on this show. We look
forward to next year’s.
SEE YA NEXT TIME.
